Brisbane, Australia

My first ultra long haul flight was a sector from Dubai to Brisbane, then Brisbane to Auckland, then Auckland back to Brisbane, then from Brisbane back to Dubai. I honestly don’t think this 6 day journey could have been any better. I conquered one of my biggest fears, got to be one with nature again, and even got to play with some animals. Since both countries were two totally different experiences, i’ve decided to break them up into two separate posts starting with Brisbane.

Day 1 in Brisbane:

oh Brisbane.. how wonderful you were to me. I haven’t seen any other part of Australia but i can deff say Brisbane made me love the continent and gave me desire to see more. it seemed like such a chill, homey town that you see in movies and everybody was friendly and welcoming. our hotel was in such a great location which was on this shopping strip with cute outdoor restaurants. the one thing i heard everybody talk about from their experience in Brisbane was Koala Pine Sanctuary where they held koalas and played with kangaroos so of course thats the very first thing i did. even after a 14 hour flight with no rest, i forced myself to see this place. 4 of my colleagues wanted to come as well which was nice because they’re all really cool people. the park was everything i heard of and more. i was a bit hesitant about seeing the kangaroos because i honestly thought maybe they’re drugged to be more calm so people can interact with them, but that isnt the case at all. when you enter, you’re entering their territory. theres even a sign stating to enter at your own risk.. its this big green field with a few kangaroos just laying out and sun bathing while a huge heard of kangaroos isolate themselves from us. they have a section blocked off just for them so they can choose to be out in the open or left alone. i was loving it, but i’m not going to lie i was so scared to be so close to them thinking i was about to get drop kicked haha.. we stayed for a few hours then decided to head back and rest for we were going to new zealand the next day.

Day 2 in Brisbane:

this day was much more chill. by this day, we were all so exhausted with all of the flying we just wanted to relax and do some site seeing. two of the girls and i walked around the botanical garden of Brisbane. the weather was perfect and the scene was beautiful. it was so nice to smell fresh air again. no offense Dubai, but my lungs can’t handle all of that sand.. we walked around for a couple of hours until we got hungry and decided to grab some lunch on the strip near the hotel. i had some amazing fried calamari and fries. it was also nice to finally have some meat. since being in Dubai, i haven’t been eating meat much because it doesn’t taste like what i’m used to. of course i stuffed my face on this trip as i very much deserved to.
